Go it alone, or?
Eight months to go! Getting closer to where we turn to new trips, adventures and sites-to-see.
Our destinations of interest are mapped out with the help of larger-than-life people like David Kier of https://vivabaja.com/, Graham Mackintosh of https://grahammackintosh.com/ The gear is pretty much ready and all that remain are some logistical questions.
We are now contemplating whether to go this alone, or find some compatible travel buddies. While we enjoy our own company, we are now entertaining teaming up with another couple for reasons of ideas, opinions, security to some extent, and recoverability in case of breakdown.
Our itinerary…
Don’t really know yet, open to suggestions..
Have several trial runs locally before we hit the road
Leave Vancouver Island September 2024
Take a leisurely trip through the Four Corner States iron out the gear
Into Baja likely through Mexicali
Then who knows. There are limitations to where our rig can go
Head home to Vancouver Island end of March. Or not, lol.
The ‘fit’…
Probably the most important part in choosing some travel buddy couple – a bit like a match-making session.
You’re likely reasonably local on Vancouver Island
Have some remote truck camping experience, know the difference between, and have, a tourniquet and a soft shackle.
Regard overrun tourist locales as a supply-stop rather than a destination for any length of time
Know the value of being able to rely on own knowledge and equipment
Don’t really need social or political dramas or personal vices that distract from enjoying the trip. ¡Usted sabe lo que quiero decir!
The side bar here, and other posts on this website hint as to what makes us tick.
